Fees

Overland Track Fee
The Overland Track Fee only applies during the peak walking season (1 November - 30 April). The fee must be paid at the time of booking.

All revenues raised from the Overland Track fee will be directed toward the environmental protection and long-term mangement of the track and its facilities.

The fee is $150 AUD per adult, including GST. The fee for children (aged 17 and under), seniors and pension concessionaires is $120. Children under 5 may walk free of charge, although we do not recommend bringing small children to the Overland Track.

Park Entry Fees
The payment of a park entry fee (Parks Pass) is required to enter Tasmania's national parks, including Cradle Mt - Lake St Clair National Park where the Overland Track is located. This is in addition to the Overland Track Fee. All money raised by park entry fees goes directly towards the maintenance and protection of Tasmania's national parks.

The Overland Track booking system gives each person in your party three options.

  • You may indicate you already have a Tasmanian Parks Pass, in which case you will have to show the card to staff when departing on the Track.
  • You may buy the 8-week Holiday Pass online through the booking system with your Overland Track Pass.
  • Or you may choose to buy a Parks Pass that best suits your needs, when you arrive in Tasmania. A variety of passes are available. Check our park entry fee web page for the pass most suited to your particular needs. This also shows where they can be purchased.
